Role- ::Sr SQL Server Functional /Application DBA
Location :: Madison Ave, NY - Onsite
Duration :: 12 Months Contract
MUST HAVE:
- Recent experience performing Level 3 support (the highest level of support).
- A minimum of 10 years conducting general database administration tasks (e.g., DB implementation, DB code deployments, DB backups, creation of DB user accounts).
- A minimum of 7 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
- Experience as both a Functional and Application DBA.
- At least 5 years of experience administering advanced database platform features (e.g., clustering, encryption, logical/physical standby, ETL, replication), as well as performance optimization of database servers and SQL code.
- A minimum of 5 years working in a SQL DBA role with multiple databases and SQL development issues.
- Proficiency in MS SQL Server 2014 - 2019.
Additional Requirements:
- 8 years of experience working for US companies in the US.
- 4 years of recent banking experience (since 2016).
Job Description:
We are seeking consultants to join a global DBA team. The team will ensure that new database code meets company standards for readability, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing developers with a weekly list of the top 10 most resource-intensive queries on the server and suggesting ways to improve their performance.
- Designing indexes for existing applications, determining when to add or remove them.
- Assisting developers in improving the performance of queries through optimization or index modification.
- Conducting SQL Server lunch-and-learn sessions for application developers.
- Advising developers on efficient database design (tables, data types, stored procedures, functions, etc.).
Consultants must have experience:
- Writing and improving SQL Server T-SQL queries for at least one year and becoming the go-to person for T-SQL questions within the office.
- Designing tables and selecting appropriate data types.
- Using Profiler traces and other tools to identify the most frequently run queries.
- Using free tools like sp_BlitzIndex® and DMV queries to answer questions about index usage.
- Troubleshooting SQL Server service outages on-call.
- Determining whether clustering, log shipping, mirroring, replication, etc., are the right solutions for business problems.
Skills Needed:
- Experience working with database sizes of 30TB or more (on average) in a global environment.
- Experience working with large-scale enterprise application setups across data centers.
- SSIS package creation and debugging skills.
- Expertise in stored procedure development and tuning.
- Exposure to data replication.
