Job Title: Data Center Technicians (Mid to Lead Level)
Location: Abilene, TX
Shift: 1st Shift – OT available (60 hrs/week)
Duration: 2-3 year contract with potential for direct hire after 6 months
Start Date: Upon clearance
Pay Rate: $20-$27/hr (W2, based on experience)
Job Summary/Responsibilities:
We are seeking motivated and experienced Data Center Technicians to join our team. In this role, you will work on core and shell tasks for data center installations, including cable management, equipment setup, and troubleshooting. Key responsibilities include:
- Installing approximately 5,000 cables per data center
- Operating scissor lifts for installation and maintenance
- Performing rack/stack work for data center infrastructure
- Pulling copper and fiber cables
- Adhering to safety protocols and ensuring all work is performed in compliance with safety and security guidelines
- Using telecom hand tools (punch down, snips, wire strippers, crimpers, and testers)
- Performing troubleshooting and problem-solving tasks
- Ensuring high-quality standards and precise work in all assignments
Requirements:
- Prior experience in construction or a commercial environment, especially with telecom or data center projects
- Strong understanding of cabling, including fiber and copper installations
- Ability to follow directions and work independently or in a team
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to work extended hours or additional shifts when needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must provide own safety gear (hard hat, vest, boots, gloves, and glasses)
- Must have personal telecom hand tools (punch down tool, wire strippers, snips, crimpers, and basic toner/tester preferred)
- Positive attitude, strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to work efficiently and professionally under pressure
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 60.00 per week
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
