As a Data Scientist at Verily, you'll build cutting-edge conversational systems empowered by Large Language Model (LLM) agents for healthcare applications. Your role will be pivotal in unlocking new realms of possibility, enabling these systems to accomplish tasks previously deemed unattainable. We seek impact-driven individuals who have deep roots in building participant-facing healthcare applications using AI/ML and possess strong engineering skills and agile mindset in building and improving prototypes of conversational agents.

Minimum Qualifications
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000 - $143,000 bonus benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Base salary will be reviewed and updated to the new local market. We will maintain the current market position for Veeps in the new local market for fairness and consistency.Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of conversational systems powered by LLM agents for healthcare applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Conduct research and stay updated on the latest advancements in multi-modal LLM and generative AI technologies.
- Prototype and iterate on algorithms and models to optimize performance and accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., data sciences, statistics, biomedical informatics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar), or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with LLM technologies, including prompting, fine-tuning and retrieval augmented generation (RAG).
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Ph.D. in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Familiarity with developing deep learning algorithms using TensorFlow or PyTorch, and knowledge of latest architectures.
- Creative and methodical problem solving: understand needs, identify options, form hypotheses, generate robust results, make informed decisions, and learn faster through feedback.
