As a Distinguished Software Engineer you will be responsible for driving the technical direction of large-scale, mission-critical systems that power innovative solutions across our whole the organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges, shaping the product’s architecture, performance, and scalability. You’ll mentor other engineers, influence key business decisions, and help elevate the company’s technology stack. Minimum Qualifications
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $256,000 - $340,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Define, champion and drive the technical vision for the company ensuring alignment to business critical strategic goals and industry trends, delivering significant innovation and user value.
- Architect, design and deliver large-scale, reliable, maintainable, high quality tested software products and systems aligned with company guidelines and best practices, maintaining comprehensive documentation for software design, implementation, and maintenance, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Resolve the company’s most difficult technical problems, developing groundbreaking solutions and pushing the boundaries of technology aligned with strategic business objectives.
- Maintain an understanding of and contribute to the top-level business objectives and strategy, utilizing this to drive long-term technical roadmaps which balance technical approach, business needs and time-to-market. Be informed and aware of industry trends and innovations and adapt the company strategy to them. Consistently optimize for the business as a whole and not just their areas of ownership.
- Provide expert guidance and mentorship to Staff and Senior Staff engineers, lead technical discussions, and make architectural decisions which positively impact the product and company’s direction.
- Address difficult and ambiguous problems spanning the interactions among multiple systems, products, organizations, people and functions.
- Collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams to set requirements, align on goals, manage dependencies, resolve difficult technical issues and shape product direction.
- Demonstrate thought leadership at the company level, influence and results well beyond their own immediate work utilizing a deep understanding of their audience and their goals to tailor their communication style to resonate with their peers, driving discussions to reach expedient outcomes aligned with business and technical objectives.
- As a key technical leader in the organization, generate and champion initiatives (investments, processes, tooling) which transform the product and engineering organization, supporting market differentiation, product quality and engineering velocity. Drive evaluation of and independent prototyping of new technologies to drive company level decisions on their adoption as well as informing company level technical roadmap.
- Participate in strategic technology evaluation as part of mergers and acquisition activities informing company level decisions.
- Serve as an external voice for the company, often engaging directly with customers, expertly navigating contracting, relationships and escalations and/or contributing to external standard bodies.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience working with complex distributed systems at scale.
- Experience mentoring engineering talent and leading org-wide technical strategy across geographically-distributed teams.
- Master’s, PhD, further education or equivalent practical experience in Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Entrepreneurial drive, demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast paced environment.
- Exceptional communication skills and proven ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external clients.
- Strong product sense coupled with an ability to take a developer’s perspective.
- Strong leadership skills and an ability to influence and drive company-wide alignment.
