Job Description
The Senior Software Engineer operates as a senior/lead team member of a consulting team, assisting assigned Insurance Carrier project teams (“our customers”) to implement, integrate, leverage and enhance the FAST platform. We rely on a dynamic team of engineers to create solutions for our rapidly evolving technical stack. We’re seeking a full stack developer who is smart, proactive, and results-oriented to build elegant solutions for the Life insurance industry's complex business domain and make our industry-leading products even better.
The ideal candidate has experience building products across the stack and a firm understanding of web frameworks, APIs, databases, and multiple back-end languages for a SaaS application. The full stack developer will join a small team to solve challenges for both the front-end and back-end architecture, ultimately delivering amazing experiences for the Life insurance industry.
Work assignments are carried out in a hybrid working model combining the Verisk home office (US or India), remote and periodic travel to customer locations. The Senior Software Engineer works autonomously and uses sound judgment to solve problems, support the customer and Verisk team members and collaborate with Verisk product owners and SMEs.

Responsibilities
- Participate in all aspects of agile software development, including design, implementation, and deployment
- Design and provide guidance on building end-to-end systems optimized for speed and scale leveraging SOA design principles on J2EE and .NET platforms
- Work primarily in technologies like .NET, Angular/REACT, Java Script, SQL Server, Postgres, etc.
- Engage with inspiring designers and front-end engineers, and collaborate with leading back-end engineers to create reliable APIs
- Develop next generation user interfaces for all applications and innovate on integration patterns using Microservice design
- Strong analytical skills to breakdown complex customer objectives and provide appropriate solutions within the context of the FAST application. Ability to negotiate terms with customers, ensuring that the solutions provided are feasible and meet the customer’s expectations.
- A strong focus on delivering value to customers, ensuring that their needs are prioritized while balancing operational and regulatory constraints. Be flexible in adapting solutions to meet changing customer needs, market conditions, or regulatory changes.
- Communication & Presentation: Excellent communication skills, particularly in articulating complex product features and benefits to customers in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner.
- Communication and Interpersonal skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information clearly to various stakeholders. Strong relationship-building skills to foster collaboration across departments.
- Work across the full stack, building highly scalable distributed solutions that enable positive user experiences and measurable business growth
- Develop new features and infrastructure in support of rapidly emerging business and project objectives
- Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, and maintain high standards for code quality and application design
- Think with a mindset to meet customer objectives with the OOTB functionality low/no code environment or enabling configurability
- At least 5 of Industry experience in working and building large-scale software applications
- Experience in building web applications
- Experience in designing and integrating RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of Angular/REACT and Java Script
- Excellent debugging and optimization skills
- Experience in unit/integration testing
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information technology, or engineering (Masters a plus)
- Interest in learning new tools, languages, workflows, and philosophies
