Responsible for receiving and processing all lawsuits for active/effective CDP members and the creation of new profiles for prospects with pre-existing lawsuits. The Claims Agent is responsible for ensuring we have all legal documents needed to set up a claim, creating claims, assigning attorneys, ensuring pleadings are filed timely and following up on the claim until closed. He/she serves as the contact point between Consumer Defense Partners and its members, affiliates, and attorneys once litigation on an account begin via email and/or phone while ensuring prompt and accurate responses.
Essential Job Functions
- Data Entry – Intake of member claims/summons and processing of new enrollments.
- Billing – Recognizing billable items and submitting to appropriate department for processing.
- Claims Processing and follow through: Once a claim is entered, it becomes the Claims Agent responsibility to maintain and manage all claims until the claim is closed. Agents will be held accountable for the claim from start to finish.
- Responsible for reviewing new summonses to ensure forms are complete, legible, and accurate.
- Upload and save all legal documents into CDP CG.
- Document all communication in the respective profiles.
- Sends out requests to attorneys for acceptance / declining.
- Complete all assigned tasks in Creditor Guard [CRM].
- Responsible for informing all affiliates, attorneys, and members via email and/or phone (as needed) when a new summons has been received and documenting all communication in the respective profiles.
- Prioritizes and follows up with workload, as needed, to ensure properly handling by all parties involved.
- Escalates any necessary scenario to the Department Manager for review and resolution.
- Performs any other responsibility connected with the servicing of the claim.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Attends monthly department meetings to discuss day-to-day concerns and bring up any suggestions for department improvement.
Additional Responsibilities
- Works on any special project assigned by the Department Manager, as needed.
- May research information to solve members’ issues surrounding a claim.
This position requires current IAPDA Certification. Upon a formal job offer candidate should provide a copy of certification with acceptance. If candidate is not IAPDA certified they can request access to exam for completion prior to an employment offer. Certification process will not include any work for Veritas and there will be no employee relationship and no payment due to the candidate or Veritas. After a successful certification process the candidate will receive and own the certification and, if they remain interested, will be further considered for a position at Veritas.
- Experience in customer service, collections, administrative support, and legal assistance work.
- Knowledge of legal terminology, of research methods and techniques, and of administrative and court procedures.
- Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures.
- Ability to prioritize workloads and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
