Role :
Assists members and potential members with their Credit Union needs; explains services, sets up new accounts, pays and receives cash and other negotiable instruments, responds to problems, and directs members to the appropriate people. Must be comfortable engaging conversation with credit union members and offering financial products to benefit member needs. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required for this position.
Location & Availability:
Job location is in our Smyrna, TN branch. Flexibility of schedule is required. The hours could vary between 6:30 am and 5:00 pm.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
- Receives and processes member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments; sells money orders s to members; transfers amounts from member accounts as directed. Makes Visa payments.
- Assists members with opening and closing accounts, answers questions about products and services and resolves problems that are within their authority to resolve. Refers problems that are beyond their authority to their supervisor, along with their recommendations. Troubleshoot home banking, mobile banking and debit card problems.
- Welcomes members and provides routine information concerning services and directs members to appropriate department for specific information and service.
- Takes member loan applications and prepares them for review by a Loan Officer. Follows up with the Loan Officer to determine status. Processes approved loans and sets up date and time to close the loan and make disbursements.
- Identifies cross-sell opportunities and cross-sells services to members.
- Maintains member account information on computer system.
- Assures that appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared.
- Balances cash and checks with daily totals. Prepares and submits check image file. Balances and closes branch as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Balances to standards noted in MSR Accuracy Policy.
- Provides prompt, accurate, courteous, friendly, timely and professional service to all members.(To assist members waiting in the lobby within five minutes; To answer telephone within 3 rings; To respond to all correspondence within 2 hours).
- Processes member transactions with zero errors.
- Develop and improve knowledge and skills in Member Service Areas.
- Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly and accurate manner.
Knowledge and Skills Experience: Six months to two years of similar or related experience. An outgoing personality with sales experience is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required for this position.
Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
Other Skills: Able to operate a 10-key calculator, typewriter, and computer keyboard. Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required for this position.
Physical requirements: Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Must have valid driver's license for the state of residence.
