Business Development Associate - Renewable Energy
Location - Baltimore, MD (Hybrid 3 days in office)
This is a newly created position within a national renewable energy investment and project developer based in Baltimore, MD. The Business Development Associate will join a multi-disciplined team to support the origination of new business by analyzing new markets, prospecting new channel partners and building upon our current customer base, bringing their outreach experience, relationships, and knowledge to qualify and close high value opportunities. This position will offer a base salary in the $150,000 to $175,000 range plus full benefits, strong career mobility, and excellent work culture. Business Development Associate - Job Description
- Support business development, origination, policy, and diligence activities related to solar, community solar, and battery storage investments in the distributed generation sector
- Utilize project financial models to evaluate project economics and assess alignment with investment criteria
- Diligence various incentive programs and/or rate tariff data and market data relevant to modeling project financial returns
- Collaborate across internal teams (e.g. sales, project/structuring, finance, legal, asset management) to develop underwriting assumptions, standards, and protocols
- Support growth of deal pipeline by working with sales/origination team to determine competitive bid pricing based on project assumptions and other market dynamics
- Work with sales to develop go-to-market strategies based on regions, incentive markets, or sectors and assist with various origination activities (e.g. proposal/LOI development, etc)
- Research and monitor key market regulations, policies, and trends to identify new investment opportunities
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, STEM, business or related field and 5 years of related work experience or demonstrated expertise in related fields.
- Working knowledge of Solar PPA’s and other energy project finance structures.
- Skilled in financial modeling, project origination, and investment analysis/ due diligence
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy, and reflective listening as well as strong writing skillset.
- High integrity and excellent references
- Demonstrated ability to engage with customers' key decision-makers, build rapport and influence.
- Formal training in negotiation and consultive sales strategy and tactics
- Solid analytical skills: recognize, prioritize critical path actions to resolve customer and/or work product issues to move deals forward.
- Expertise in managing multiple stakeholders and projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate sometimes difficult or delicate situations with customers to reach positive outcomes and develop long-term business relationships.
- High level of intellectual drive to gain subject matter expertise in assigned and related fields; a desire to grow your sales, finance, legal and technical skillsets.
- Ability to work and collaborate within a multifunctional organization that includes structuring, underwriting, investment, asset management, legal and regulatory teams.
Salary : $150,000 - $175,000
