Position Summary The role of the Project Engineer includes handling all project submittals including Request for Information (RFI) and shop drawings, reviewing contract documents, ensuring documentation of both internal and external communication, assisting the Project Manager, and providing customer service to project stakeholders.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare & execute requests for information
Analyze & summarize key components of contract documents :
Design plans
Special Provisions / Standard Specifications
Scope of work
Maintain logs of shop drawings, transmittals, RFIs, and designs and distribute to appropriate parties
Assist Project Manager in identifying any changes to the design plans and communicate changes to appropriate parties
Compile and distribute project information sheets
Maintain communication with Detailers
Manage and monitor all project submittals, shop drawing status and issues
Review all shop drawings for conformance with contract documents, relevant specifications and codes, and Veritas Steel standards
Manage all drawing revisions and document control throughout the project
Monitor fabrication and shipping schedule Assist Project Manager and VP of Estimating & Project Management
Assist in identifying problems and develop alternative solutions
Work closely with Production Management, Scheduling, and Purchasing personnel to establish final sequencing of job and ensure material and state specifications are confirmed
Work Relationships and Scope
Report directly to the Director of Program Management
Work closely with Detailers, Project Managers, other Project Coordinators, Production, Purchasing, Estimating, and Quality Control
Have regular daily contact with external Detailers, customers, and various subcontractors, vendors, etc

Able to deftly coordinate the myriad of details that are involved in steel bridge fabrication

Able to travel to visit fabrication plants and project job sites
Must conduct business honestly, ethically, and fairly with respect for all
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Business Administration preferred or relevant experience
Experience in steel fabrication / construction or civil / highway construction is desired
Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Tekla EPM and project management software desired
