Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Eatontown, NJ is excited to announce we are looking for a veterinary assistant to join our very busy Emergency department as we have an immediate opening on our daytime and swing schedule! If you have veterinary experience and would like to be considered for an opportunity to work in a busy specialty and emergency hospital and learn how to become a technician, we want to hear from you!
About GSVS: We are a multispecialty practice with boarded veterinary specialists in Emergency and Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Dermatology, Cardiology, Rehabilitation, and Ophthalmology. We have also been treating felines with hyperthyroid disease with radioactive iodine since 2001! We are also proud to have two technicians here at GSVS with their VTS’s in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.

Veterinary Assistants at GSVS work alongside licensed veterinary technicians, emergency doctors, and veterinary specialists and have access to the most advanced diagnostic tools to provide the best possible care. On any given day, you can expect to do the following as a veterinary assistant:
- Provide support to doctors and technicians
- Restrain patients for exams and procedures
- Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing
- Monitor and document patient’s vital signs
- Assist with obtaining radiographs
- Properly use and maintain hospital equipment
- Perform medical math calculations
- Provide high level nursing care to all patients
- Administer medications
- Place IVCs and obtain blood samples from various access points
- Willingness to work varied hours and schedules.
- At least 1 year of veterinary experience is required
- Ability to take direction
- Ability to work well in a highly collaborative environment
- Commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community
- Positive outlook and friendly, team-orientated attitude
