Job Summary:
The Senior Lending Assistant will support Veritex Community Bank’s relationship banking culture through exceptional customer service and superior product knowledge. This role acts as the line of business subject matter expert and primary point of contact, while also providing administrative support to the line of business Portfolio Manager (PM), Client Manager (CM) and Relationship Manager (RM) and/or team of. This support includes closing loans, preparing loan worksheets, monitoring daily reports for overdrafts, coordinating with Treasury partners on account openings, collecting and ordering necessary documents such as Beneficial Ownership forms, UCCs, Certificates of Good Standing, title work, appraisals, etc. depending on the requirements for the line of business.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide high touch support for borrowers, lenders, and other business partners for the Line of Business (Internal and external).
Develop strong relationships with borrowers and line of business partners.
Review, research and respond to internal and external inquiries.
Work directly with borrowers to collect all information necessary for loan processing (CIP information, entity documents, OFAC, Beneficial Ownership, etc.).
Confidently engage with Lenders and Credit Partners on any internal or external issues.
Ability to prioritize loan closings in a high paced environment.
Request 3rd party reports and disclosures as required by federal and Bank policy (UCC searches, Certificate of Good Standing, Credit Reports, Invoices, etc.) and review for accuracy and completeness.
Review approval to ensure terms are correct and obtain appropriate levels of approval.
Request loan documents and verify the accuracy of loan documentation by checking the collateral description, interest rate, maturity date, closing dates, etc.
Prepare Audit Confirmations and Confirmation Letters for external partners.
Schedule and facilitate loan closing with borrowers and attorneys.
Ensure Regulatory documents are collected as appropriate (AML policies, Risk Assessments, etc.).
Monitor Loan Exception reports and submit proper documentation to clear exceptions prior to month end and quarter end deadlines.
Ability to notarize legal documentation.
Work with Loan Operations Funding Department to close, fund and book the loan.
Gather and track original loan documents and send to Loan Operations department.
Partner with Community Banking Centers, Treasury and Corporate Deposit Specialists on the following: account opening, stop payments, transfers, account fee waivers, check order, outgoing wires, and EDD requests.
Submit approved documentation for all loan advances to Loan Operations Advance Department.
Monitor daily/weekly reports such as past dues, exceptions, maturing loans and overdrafts. Notify clients listed on the report. Continued follow-up with clients if necessary.
Prepare necessary reports for RM/CM; including but not limited to past due loan payments, overdrawn accounts, and NSF’s.
Consistently follow bank policies and procedures.
Ability to review and approve NSF items per delegated authority.
Work directly with clients to request ongoing documentation required for covenant monitoring (financial statements, borrowing base certificates, A/R, A/P, inventory reports, tax returns, financial statements, etc.).
Act as the line of business subject matter expert and train/mentor other Lending Assistants on loan process and procedures.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required based on business need.
Job Skills and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required. Some college strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of Commercial Banking or Lending Assistant experience required.
Advanced level of knowledge and understanding of loan documentation.
Advanced knowledge of HMDA, ECOA, TRID and other relevant lending regulations.
Ability to respond quickly and multi-task in a demanding environment.
Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Possess strong critical thinking ability and can work independently with limited supervision from management.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of personnel and directly with clients.
