Job Summary:
The Server Delivery Engineer III is responsible for the successful delivery of IT infrastructure projects, system enhancements, and strategic initiatives related to on-premise and cloud-based server environments. This role focuses on proactive planning, implementation, and support of new solutions while working closely with internal stakeholders, IT leadership, and third-party vendors. This position requires a strong technical background in Windows Server, VMware, and cloud environments along with the ability to manage project-driven deployments, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements. The Server Engineer II will play a key role in ensuring that server-related initiatives are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Infrastructure Project Delivery & Solution Implementation
Work with infrastructure projects related to server builds, migrations, application deployments, and system integrations.
Act as a technical lead on cross-functional projects, ensuring smooth execution of server and cloud-related deliverables.
Work on the implementation plans for new infrastructure solutions, ensuring minimal impact on business operations.
Provide expertise in server architecture, high availability, and disaster recovery planning for project deployments.
System Deployment & Configuration
Design, configure, and deploy Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and virtualized infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V, or Azure) to support enterprise applications.
Assist with on-premise to cloud migrations, including Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online, and cloud-hosted application infrastructure.
Develop automation scripts (PowerShell, Python) to streamline deployment processes and improve efficiency.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Technical Consultation
Work closely with business units, application owners, and IT leadership to assess technical requirements and translate them into deliverable solutions.
Act as a trusted advisor to internal teams on server architecture, scalability, and performance optimization.
Provide recommendations for system enhancements, capacity planning, and infrastructure modernization efforts.
Request Fulfillment & Service Delivery
Respond to and fulfill infrastructure-related service requests, ensuring timely and efficient resolution.
Manage provisioning, decommissioning, and lifecycle management of server infrastructure assets.
Oversee and execute server hardening initiatives, ensuring compliance with internal security frameworks and best practices.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
Develop comprehensive project documentation, including design specifications, technical workflows, and post-implementation reviews.
Maintain updated infrastructure diagrams, configuration details, and operational procedures.
Train and mentor junior engineers on best practices, solution design, and technical troubleshooting.
Job Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Expertise
10 years plus experience in a delivery-focused infrastructure engineering role.
Strong expertise in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and certificate management.
Experience designing and deploying solutions in VMware ESXi, vSphere, and vCenter environments.
Familiarity with cloud-based solutions (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) and hybrid IT architectures.
Proficiency in scripting and automation tools, including PowerShell, Ansible, or Python.
Strong knowledge of server security, hardening techniques, and identity management.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
This is a hybrid role requiring 4 days in-office and 1 flex day per week.
Occasional travel to the data center for maintenance, upgrades, and infrastructure projects.
Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds as needed for server installations.
May involve occasional on-call support and after-hours emergency response.
