What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Reporter position at Veritext Legal Solutions?
We are looking to add independently contracted Digital Reporters to our team at Veritext Legal Solutions. If you are tech-savvy and looking for a career within the legal system, we invite you to join our team, offering hybrid services at legal proceedings.
In this role, you will use professional audio recording equipment to capture the verbatim record of depositions or other legal proceedings. This is a high-demand career that offers flexible scheduling, ongoing support and mentorship, and high earning potential.
No prior experience or certifications are required. We provide you with all the support you need to be successful.
Note: Digital Reporters (DRs) are not shorthand reporters or stenographers, and no stenographic tools or training are required.
Responsibilities:
- Managing legal proceedings as an independent arbiter of the record.
- Swearing in witnesses and acting as Notary of the State.
- Creating a clear and complete recording of the legal proceedings using high-quality audio technology.
- Typing accurate and detailed annotations of case events and terminology to serve as a guide for subsequent transcription.
Through every step, we’re there to support applicants through the onboarding process and suggest outside digital reporting courses and certification. We’ll also connect you with peers and experts to compare digital reporting equipment and share tips about software usage.

Requirements:
- High School Diploma or higher
- Strong communication skills
- Technical ability to learn our systems, although no prior experience with audio is required
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- High level of professionalism
- Ability to obtain a state notary commission
- Ability to obtain state required certifications and licensure
- Career minded
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Legal industry experience
- Transcription experience
- Possess either CDR, CER and or CET AAERT certifications
- Experience as an independent contractor within the legal field
