The Trade Compliance Leader will work cross-functionally with legal, supply chain, logistics, finance, and other business units to ensure full compliance with trade regulations and drive operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain trade compliance policies, procedures, and training programs in alignment with U.S. and international trade laws (e.g., EAR, ITAR, OFAC, CBP regulations).
- Monitor changes in trade regulations and assess their impact on business operations.
- Advise leadership on trade compliance risks and recommend strategies to mitigate exposure.
- Act as the primary liaison with government agencies (e.g., BIS, CBP, OFAC, and other international regulatory bodies).
- Ensure compliance with all import/export documentation, licensing, and customs requirements.
- Oversee the classification of goods under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN).
- Manage trade compliance audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure adherence to denied party screening procedures and embargoed country restrictions.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. and international trade laws, including EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and CBP regulations.
- Experience managing import/export classifications, licensing, and regulatory audits.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and mitigate compliance risks.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence and train internal stakeholders.
- Experience working with global trade management (GTM) systems and compliance software.
- Certification in trade compliance (e.g., Certified Export Specialist, Licensed Customs Broker, CUSECO) is a plus.
- Partner with supply chain, procurement, and logistics teams to optimize trade compliance processes and cost efficiency.
- Support global business initiatives by providing expertise on trade regulations and market entry strategies.
- Lead internal compliance assessments and drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Work closely with finance teams to manage duties, tariffs, and trade cost optimization strategies.
- Knowledge of free trade agreements (FTAs) and duty optimization strategies.
- Familiarity with international sanctions and embargoes.
- Experience working in a multinational corporation with complex global supply chain operations.
- 5-10 years of related experience of successful supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.
- 5-10 years of related job experience.
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred
