Verity is hiring for a Director of Business Services at our Seattle, WA Headquarters location. This is a remote position. Since 1933, Verity has been a local member-owned credit union. We are also the only financial institution in the Pacific Northwest that is a part of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV).

The Director of Business Services is responsible for creating, communicating, and carrying out the strategic vision for business lending and deposit services at Verity Credit Union. This role oversees both lending and depository programs, product development and management, and growth. The Director is responsible for developing and meeting departmental goals and service standards, ensuring continued development of products and services, and the overall production performance and operational standards of our business services programs. The Director will work in conjunction with managers, department heads, and senior management to ensure effective marketing, business development, portfolio management, and the long-term success of Verity’s business lending and depository functions in achievement of strategic goals.
In addition, this role will focus their efforts on lending and depository relationships with existing members, prospective members, BIPOC and Women community business members, in promoting equitable business products to underserved communities. This position is responsible for commercial credit analysis and underwriting relationship activities, ensuring consistency with Verity Member Business Lending policies and commercial credit standards. The Director of Business Services provides credit and loan analysis, underwriting and relationship expertise to the Business Services team and to members. This person is responsible for making decisions for underwriting credit to small and medium sized businesses with moderate complexity, typically for Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) credits.

· Base Pay: This position has a salary range of $134,553.48 (minimum) to $201,830.23 (maximum), with a midpoint of $168,191.85. Starting pay is offered based upon an applicant’s experience and education relevant to the position.
· Paid Time Off: All Verity employees receive 11 paid holidays per year and 3 floating holidays, as well as paid time off (PTO is combined vacation and sick leave.) PTO starts accruing immediately at a rate of 20 days per year.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Vision & Strategy
· Proactively work with the Chief Lending Officer in creating and carrying out a strategic vision for our business services functions.
· Create, develop, and communicate a compelling and inspired vision for business services to staff.
· Serve as a change agent and champion of Verity’s culture and make recommendations that support the strategic initiatives of the credit union.
· Proactively work with fellow credit union leaders and direct reports to create business plans that lead to the achievement of department goals.
Production & Program Direction
· Direct all business services programs, including in-house and participation portfolios.
· Develop equitable and inclusive business products and services to better serve diverse communities and promote financial wellness among BIPOC, Women, LGBTQA , Veteran, and other underserved communities.
· Develop and implement strategies to meet production goals and collaborate with internal partners and departments in reaching the credit union’s sales culture and vision through retail and other channels.
· Develop new products and services and lead their implementation process with key stakeholders.
· Establish, communicate, and uphold performance expectations and standards and analyze key ratios and metrics related to business lending, depository, and non-interest income goals.
· Proactively work with the Marketing Department to develop and carry out plans for an effective marketing and sales programs to increase loan and membership originations.
· Act as the relationship manager and meet with existing and prospective Business Services members to determine needs and recommend solutions.
· Provide recommendations to leadership for new credit requests and annual reviews.
· Recommend and/or approve credit requests within lending authority.
· Negotiate credit terms, costs, repayment methods and collateral specifications, within lending authority.
· Attend industry and community events to promote Verity and foster relationships.
Compliance & Operations
· Maintain and seek out current industry knowledge of business lending regulations, economic, and industry trends.
· Identify growing trends and use insights to prepare the credit union and its leaders for future challenges and opportunities.
· Review and implement processes and procedures related to the business services department to drive efficiency in operations, compliance, and achievement of organizational goals.
· Maintain a high level of knowledge of Verity’s business systems, products, services, technology, policies and procedures.
· Develop an annual department budget to meet goals and monitor expenditures.
· Assure the quality of business services programs and processes by proactively working with credit union staff and partners to meet credit union expectations.
· Manage vendor relationships.
· Other job duties as assigned to support the Chief Lending Officer.
Team Performance Management
· Create and drive a positive and engaged work culture in business services department.
· Create and execute a vision for the department’s staffing structure that drives achievement of the credit union’s strategic goals.
· Attract, retain, and develop exceptional staff to become credit union leaders.
· Performance management of reports including consistent one-on-one meetings and timely delivery of performance reviews.
· Providing in-depth training to staff on small business products & services, as needed.

Demonstrates the ability to interpret financial statements, spread tax returns, assess risk, and structure credit solutions. Maintains proficiency with lending policies, credit frameworks, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliant, quality loan production.
· Relationship Management: Cultivates meaningful relationships with members and community partners, identifying business needs and tailoring services to support their financial success. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Business Management, Finance, or a related focus) or equivalent industry work experience.
· Minimum of five years of team management experience is required.
· Minimum of five years of business lending, including business development and relationship management experience in a financial institution is required.
· Experience with SBA and Commercial Real Estate lending programs is strongly preferred.
· Minimum of five years of experience using a variety of analytical tools to spread and analyze financial statements, tax returns, and other due diligence documents to determine cash flow, collateral, and sources of repayment. Evaluate credit quality and risk to support credit approval.
· Post-secondary course work in business, communications, and lending or equivalent experience is preferred. Senior management experience is preferred.
