What you’ll be doing...
The Invoice Validation mission is to deliver reliable, relevant, and insightful financial support; proactive business analysis; and to take ownership and accountability in all aspects of the life cycle of Access Invoices from receipt to > load > audit > dispute > payment > and dispute settlement. The group will consistently pursue opportunities for improvement by expressing new ideas and sharing information. Individuals will interface with Verizon vendors and internal customers in an honest and ethical manner, delivering timely and accurate information and solutions.
Manage the receipt, audit, dispute filings, payment, and dispute negotiations for all Telco invoices. All Telco invoices will be paid on time and in accordance with contractual terms.
Manage large volumes and often complex telecom invoices for audit and analysis.
Maintain proper internal controls to prevent any services from being disconnected, overpayments or fraudulent payments from occurring.
Analyze contracts, applicable tariffs, Interconnection Agreements, and research other sources of potential data to identify dispute opportunities. Other source data may include industry databases such as LERG (Local Exchange Routing Guide) and NECA (National Exchange Carrier Association), ordering and provisioning systems, and internal Verizon software tools such as Verify and IVerify.
Oversight of audit strategy development that will identify and capture all billing errors in a timely manner. Carriers will be officially notified of the disputed amounts and timely negotiations will be conducted to close disputes.
Provide detail dispute explanations to the carriers and negotiate settlement. Analyze any responses from vendors and provide on-going support to resolve these disputes in favor of Verizon.
Deliver detailed dispute information and guidance to Carrier Management and Legal in support of global settlements which would include both payables due and receivables due from other carriers.
Assist legal and regulatory organizations in support of litigation either filed by other carriers against Verizon or filed by Verizon against other carriers. Represent Verizon from time to time in depositions, and act as a professional witness on its behalf.
Development of and timely delivery of reports to accounting so appropriate reserves are carried and proper support is available to support external audits. Provide month end close support to accounting, to ensure costs are accrued as accurately as possible.
Provide location based analytics, evaluation and utilization analysis to identify disconnect or grooming opportunities in the network. Other analysis includes analytics to identify network redundancy, off-net to on-net migrations, inventory and contract data inaccuracies. Work with the appropriate teams to prioritize and work opportunities found.
Leverage some, or all, of the following software tools as part of daily activities: MS Excel, SQL, MS Access, Toad, Python, WebFocus, Alteryx and Business Objects.
Generate, analyze and present reporting metrics and drivers for Verizon leadership. Administer high quality reports for the company to set overall strategic plans, direction, and focus for all operational activities related to Telco Expenses. Provide decision making support for the Business unit leadership, Legal and Carrier Management on strategic initiatives such as global settlements, litigation, International regulatory initiatives, initiatives to minimize monthly termination liabilities incurred and optimal discount plans to reduce 3rd party Telco expense.
What we're looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor's degree in finance or related field, or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Experience in using reporting tools and languages like SQL, WebFocus, Talend, R/Python, Qlik, and Tableau.
Highly motivated, self-starter.
Experience presenting to and influencing functional leaders and partners.
Strong analytical skills, and are eager to work in a collaborative environment with multiple teams to solve complex issues.
Ability to work independently and are always willing to learn new processes and responsibilities.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and are able to interact with various partners and multi-functional teams to identify new areas of opportunity for disputes, cost savings and process improvements.
Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
