We are building the platform and shared services that will enable Verkada to quickly bring to market a suite of IoT devices and to power Verkada’s “operating system for buildings.” As a member of the Core team, you will be the architect, designer, and developer in a broad range of projects.
Responsibilities
Below is the annual on-target earnings (OTE) range for full-time employees for this position, comprised of base compensation and commissions (if applicable).

$230,000—$305,000 USD

We are looking for a Director to join the Verkada Core Platform team. We are building the platform and shared services that will enable Verkada to quickly bring to market a suite of IoT devices and to power Verkada’s “operating system for buildings.” As a member of the Core team, you will be the architect, designer, and developer in a broad range of projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects impacting our Command product- it will include both frontend and backend engineers in your team
- Be able to roll up your sleeves and actively write code or prototype new features
- Inspire your team to create highly polished and delightful user experiences
- Work closely with Product and Design to build and ship features and delight users and customers
- Collaborate with other engineering leaders to define, communicate, and execute on goals, priorities and process
- Drive the adoption of best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies to ensure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable code.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and industry developments, evaluating their potential impact on our web platforms and recommending innovative solutions.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the web engineering team, encouraging knowledge sharing, skill-building, and career growth opportunities.
- 4 years experience managing, leading, and inspiring a team of engineers; including hiring, retaining, and managing performance.
- 10 years of work experience in a software engineering roles
- Experience with both backend and frontend
- Experience working in an agile team software development environment
- Eye for design, product details, and polish
- Working knowledge of at least one server-side framework and one database system
- Degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field
