Description
Verland is hiring Exceptional People to provide Compassionate Care as a Residential Manager for our Residential locations - CLA division. The houses are located in Moon Twp, PA 15108.
A Residential Manager is primarily responsible for training, scheduling, assigning, and monitoring direct care workers based on the needs of the residents & maintaining high care and compliance standards within their assigned home(s). This is a 24/7 on-call, salaried, exempt position.
Contributions:
- Oversees day-to-day operations of the home to ensure that daily programs and activities are carried out and documented across all shifts.
- Plans, organizes, and directs the operations of the house; reinforces the hierarchy of care and agency expectations.
- Supervises staff and ensures the implementation of the individual programs.
- Monitors goal and procedural objectives implemented by direct care staff and reports findings to the Program Specialist / Program Specialist Manager.
- Monitors direct care staff functions to ensure the safety and well-being of the individuals.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Maintains accurate reporting of incidents and thorough documentation of relevant details.
- Initiates and/or implements employee disciplinary procedures.
- Resolves disputes in a fair and timely fashion by following established Policies and Procedures.
- Interacts within the community relative to the individual and group needs, (i.e.: activities, transportation, medical visits, and tours).
- Maintains the safety of the individuals by recognizing conditions which present as safety or programmatic concerns.
- Works as a Direct Support Professional as necessary to meet staffing requirements.
- Reports all unusual problems to the Program Specialist and/or Health Services Coordinator as appropriate.
- Trains and supervises newly hired direct care staff in the house and participates in the training and evaluation of assigned staff.
- Ensures food menus and doctor-prescribed diets are followed and that sufficient groceries are in the house; performs any shopping as needed.
- Makes certain that direct care staff complete required reports and documentation using stringent monitoring practices, training, and re-education of staff.
- Ensures that all materials and supplies needed for the homes are available, including maintenance issues at assigned homes, as well as vehicle maintenance.
- Conducts monthly fire drills and fire safety trainings as required by regulations.
- Understands and complies with Verland’s Mission and Policies and Procedures & HIPAA policies and educates staff on and enforces compliance with these policies.
- Performs other related duties as required including but not limited to:
Participates in inter-departmental venture/committees/processes as needed (e.g.: Human Resources, Quality Management, Fiscal, etc.).
Participates in the Inter-Disciplinary Team.
Maintains and monitors residents’ adaptive and personal equipment.
Recommend goals & activities to the Program Specialist.
Completes and submits inter-departmental paperwork as required (e.g.: FML, Worker’s Compensation, Change of Status Forms, etc).
- Completes Medication Administration Practicums, as needed, and completes weekly MAR reviews.
- Monitors and accurately reports staff schedules, house budgets, expenses, and payroll.
- Attends in-service training sessions and meetings as directed, including supervisory skill training.

Requirements
- Must be able/willing to be on-call 24/7.
- High school diploma or GED certificate required. A Bachelor’s degree in Education is preferred, with experience in the field of Human Services.
- Must possess a working knowledge of residential practices and an understanding of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills in order to effectively communicate with our individuals and staff.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be certified in First Aid, CPR, and have all state required clearances.
- Capable of carrying out planned social, recreational, work, and study activities for a limited number of individuals.
- Skilled in the ability to cope with day-to-day problems and to record and report observations of individuals’ progress, responses, etc.
- Able to maintain an empathetic attitude toward the individuals served.
- Comprehension of, or capability of, learning the fundamental principles and practices of physical and mental health, including appropriate medical terminology.
