Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer Intern assists with designing, documenting, building, and testing new solutions for assigned industries using design tools. This role supports design in production, troubleshooting, and updating. The position helps analyze and provide realistic recommendations on electrical and controls systems to ensure that designs meet goals and customer needs.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Exhibit Vermeer characteristics of a caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focus, and stewardship while modeling associated behaviors.
- Help design and detail circuits, harnesses, and assembly prints using SolidWorks software for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and safety.
- Assist in developing software and supporting documentation for machine-based controls.
- Debug and test software.
- Help develop mechanical designs of controls-associated structures and bill of materials (BOM).
Education and/or Experience
- A high school diploma is required.
- Current students pursuing a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Agriculture, or Electrical Engineering are preferred.
- Previous internships are advantageous.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Ability to identify root causes of defective parts and product design solutions, including manufactured and purchased component sizing.
- Knowledge of programming, hydraulics, electronics, statistics, strength of materials, durability, and serviceability of products.
- Ability to create robust designs, identify changes early in the design process, and recognize design commonality.
- Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers, maintaining positive interpersonal relationships that encourage openness with customers and peers.
- Ability to operate simple mechanics tools, wrenches, and assembly hand and power tools.
- Ability to produce accurate, professional, and error-free documents in a timely manner.
- Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to understand material strengths, fatigue strength, and manufacturability to ensure the right configuration and materials are developed.
Work Location
