The equipment we sell and support is used in a variety of industries, including Tree Care/Forestry, Environmental, Recycling, Telecommunication, Solar, Power, Water, Oil and Gas.
Through our paid internships, Vermeer Heartland provides students with the opportunity to develop real world mechanical skills by working with our senior-level technicians. Our internship program is designed to give students hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of equipment, while learning hydraulic, electrical and engine system fundamentals from some of the best technicians in the industry.
We are currently seeking a Service Technician Student Intern at our Washington Court House, OH location. If you’re a hardworking and down-to-earth student who is interested in exploring a career in the heavy industrial equipment industry, we would like to hear from you!
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the service department in troubleshooting and repairing heavy equipment in a shop and field environment, including diagnosis and repairs, equipment assembly and PDI inspections.
- Assist in performing operational duties relating to the equipment, and/or engine service and repair.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations, adhering to all policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Commit to continuous learning through online and instructor-led training programs.
POSITION SKILLS/ ABILITIES
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, components, and parts, along with familiarization and use of associated technical terms.
- Demonstrated computer skills, with ability to utilize the CDK business system and other resources for system diagnosis, parts lookup and work order documentation.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills for both internal co-workers and external customers and suppliers.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Actively pursuing a High School diploma or GED.
- Interns working in our service department must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license and able to meet Heartland insurance providers qualifications.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment and machinery.
- Ability to sit, stand, lift and lower repeatedly and for extended periods in both internal and external environments.
