Job Overview
Are you a motivated sales professional with a passion for heavy equipment? Vermeer Midwest is seeking a dynamic Heavy Equipment Territory Manager to join our team. In this role, you’ll leverage your expertise to drive sales and build lasting relationships with customers in the landscape, recycling & forestry, underground/HDD, and vacuum excavation fields.
Essential Functions
- Sales Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned territory. Develop and maintain relationships with potential and existing clients to drive sales growth.
- Client Consultation: Meet with clients in the field to understand their equipment needs and provide tailored solutions. Conduct detailed product presentations and demonstrations to showcase equipment features and benefits.
- Product Knowledge: Maintain a thorough understanding of the dealership’s product line, including specifications, capabilities, and industry applications. Stay updated on market trends and competitor offerings.
- Quote Preparation: Prepare and present accurate sales quotes, proposals, and contracts. Negotiate terms and pricing to close deals effectively.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional post-sale support, addressing any issues or concerns that may arise. Ensure customer satisfaction and foster long-term relationships for repeat business.
- Sales Reporting: Track sales activities, manage customer data, and report on sales performance. Utilize CRM systems to document interactions and progress.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team, service department, and management to ensure a seamless sales process and customer experience.
- Event Participation: Represent the dealership at industry events, trade shows, and exhibitions to network with potential clients and stay informed about industry developments.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong sales and negotiation skills with the ability to close deals effectively.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand and convey technical product information.
- Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain/maintain a Class “A”CDL.
- Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Resilient and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Proven track record in sales, preferably in heavy equipment, machinery, or related fields. Experience in the construction, agriculture, or industrial sectors is a plus.
