Purpose Statement: Plans, implements, and evaluates student learning experiences using a differentiated curriculum. Promotes a full range of learning options. Helps students grow academically and make appropriate choices. Facilitates parental involvement. Qualifications: Valid Ohio Department of Education license appropriate for the position. Valid Ohio Driver’s License. Completes and passes a BCI and FBI background check. Ability and willingness to work with other professionals in a co-teaching and/or blended learning environment. Ability to keep current with work skills essential to the objectives of the position. Training and/or experience in behavioral management techniques. Essential Duties: The following are typical work responsibilities. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with a disability to perform essential functions. Creates and implements behavioral supports for students including FBA/BIP. Prepares the classroom or designated area for instruction. Teaches assigned classes. Advances the district’s professional image. Maintains open/effective communications. Uses problem-solving techniques to tactfully address and resolve questions/concerns. Maintains a thorough understanding of subject matter and pedagogy. Analyzes and uses student data. Organizes appropriate subject content and learning goals. Develops lesson plans that align with state standards, the district’s adopted courses of study/curriculum goals, and Individualized Educations Programs (IEP). Evaluated academic needs of students. Develops effective educational experiences that engage and stimulate student learning. Varies instructional techniques to address student learning needs. Communicates expectations, provides guidance, and shows an active interest in student progress. Helps parents/students understand program objectives and performance standards. Uses formal and informal assessment strategies to manage student learning and monitor progress. Helps student’s identity and make use of supplemental instructional/media resources. Encourages self-reliance, problem-solving, critical-thinking, creativity, and performance skills. Supports community participation in school-sponsored activities that enhance student learning. Maintains a positive learning environment. Facilitates student learning activities that encourage collaboration and positive peer relationships. Collaborates with other staff. Share knowledge and resources that enhance student learning. Evaluates student achievement/performance. Prepares progress reports. Consults with parents as needed (e.g., phone calls, e-mails, written notes, meetings, etc.). Consults with supervisors and families to address student concerns (e.g., academic difficulties, excessive absences, behavior mental/physical health, family/peer relations, etc.). Complies with federal/state policies/procedures for the education of students identified as having a disability. Prepares and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEP). Works with staff to help ensure that services are provided in the least restrictive educational environment. Facilitates opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in an inclusive educational environment. Writes and implements behavior management plans when required. Provides accommodations as needed (e.g., differentiated curriculum, extended time, study guides, reading/transcribing assistance, etc.). Serves as a resource to classroom teachers serving special education students. Helps staff resolve problems that impede student participation in appropriate learning activities/environments. Proctors district testing activities as directed. Upholds state mandated security procedures. Helps students with content-area preparation activities. Promotes the proper care and use of school property. Ensures that all materials are stored properly. Works with staff/students to address equipment safety/security. Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information. Upholds the student conduct code. Implements effective pupil management procedures. Provides appropriate student supervision. Take precautions to ensure safety. Watches for conduct/situations that may indicate a problem works with supervisors to manage and eliminate risk factors. Reports suspected child abuse and/or neglect to civil authorities as required by law. Supervises assigned non-classroom activities. Participates in staff meetings, conferences, and other required school activities. Supports workplace initiatives that enhance personal productivity and advance district goals. Strives to develop rapport and serve as a potential role model for others. Helps students understand and embrace ethical conduct and democratic values. Provides prompt notification of delays or absences. Ensures that student lists and teaching materials are readily available for substitutes. Exhibits professional attitudes and behavior in public. Performs other specific job-related duties as directed. Abilities Required: The following personal characteristics and skills are important for the successful performance of assigned duties. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Pupil Services and Principal Remain free of any alcohol or drug abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Negotiated Agreement.
