VAC continues to offer innovative and responsive programs in special education, early education and childcare, as well as water safety and aqua therapy. About the role
The Lead Teacher (Toddlers) is responsible for caring for children in the classroom, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and clean play environment. Assist in planning and implementing activities while maintaining open communication with families about their child’s day.
Responsibilities
•Develop and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and lesson plans.
•Supervise and guide assistant teachers, substitutes, and volunteers.
•Maintain an engaging, orderly, and fun classroom environment.
•Follow Vermont State Licensing Regulations and meet renewal requirements.
•Ensure proper identification of individuals picking up children.
•Communicate consistently with families, co-workers, and program leadership.
•Update parent boards and submit monthly reports.
•Foster a safe, supportive atmosphere using positive discipline while upholding professional standards.
•Complete required training, maintain CPR/First Aid certification, and uphold professional standards.
Candidate requirements
•Strong understanding of child development, including varying abilities.
•Meets VT Early Childhood Career Ladder Level III or equivalent education/experience.
•Physically able to move freely, including floor activities.
•Communicates professionally and maintains a safe, engaging learning environment. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
•A current, valid driver’s license is required for operating company vehicles and transporting goods, equipment, personnel, or students as part of job responsibilities.
•Candidates must successfully pass a comprehensive background check to ensure the safety and well-being of students and compliance with school and daycare standards.
•Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical, mental, and emotional requirements will be defined as needed for accommodation.
