As a Professional Development Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting early childhood educators and fostering high-quality learning opportunities. You'll collaborate with network leaders, coordinate impactful training programs, and assist in organizing the VTAEYC Annual Conference.
Duties
Principal Responsibilities:
Training and Support:
- Provide technical assistance and support for network leaders.
- Evaluate and implement evidence-based training and professional development options.
- Organize high-quality trainings based on identified common service requests.
- Order and manage materials for VTAEYC trainings
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop relevant and impactful training content.
- Coordinate professional development opportunities for early childhood educators, including securing events and instructors.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of professional development hours for participants.
- Identify and liaise with trainers, ensuring their payment and compliance with organizational requirements.
- Manage registration processes for professional development events, including online registration systems and attendee communications.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with partner organizations to enhance professional development offerings.
- Collaborate with internal teams to promote professional development opportunities effectively.
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to improve the quality and accessibility of professional development offerings.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices related to professional development in early childhood education.
- Assist in the planning and execution of the VTAEYC Annual Conference, ensuring a successful and engaging event.
- Coordinate logistics, speakers, and program content for the conference.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Bachelor's degree in education, business administration, or a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
- Proficiency in using multiple online platforms, including Google Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new and nuanced technologies.
- Previous experience in coordinating events, preferably in a professional development or education setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and best practices is a plus.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for conferences and events.
