What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lineworker, 1st Class position at Vermont Electric Cooperative?
Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC), a member-owned electric distribution utility, is hiring for a 1st Class Lineworker at the Newport District.
We are looking for individuals who are safety-committed, team-oriented, flexible, and collaborative. The ideal candidate is a Journeyman Lineworker who is adaptable to new technology and committed to high-quality work. As a member-owned cooperative, we are proud to work directly for the members we serve. Strong communication and people skills, both with co-workers and member-owners, are highly desirable.
We recently asked why people stay at VEC. The most popular answer, by far, was: the people! We are an employer of choice in our region because we care about the people we work with. If you want to work at a utility with strong workplace unity, and commitment to excellence without compromising on safety, join us!
Considering relocation? You should know that our Lineworkers frequently work outside and sometimes in unpleasant or extreme weather. As a rural cooperative, many of our lines are off-road and pole climbing is sometimes required. This position includes participation in the on-call rotation. There is frequent planned and unplanned overtime. The successful candidate must live within 45 minutes of their home district by the end of the first year.
VEC believes in providing safe, affordable, and reliable energy services to its members and adapting to changes that will shape our energy future. We are inspired to do our best work every day. We offer generous benefits including health, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, Combined Time Off, and an award winning wellness program.
VEC pays for Lineworker training, apprenticeship training, licenses, tools, safety gear, and safety training. Each lineworker has an annual clothing allowance for needed FR gear and safety boots.
