Position Summary :
The Instructional Designer supports the Senior Instructional Designer in the creation and delivery of online content for Vermont Law and Graduate School's online programs. This position can be fully remote for the right candidate.
This position is part-time, temporary , working approximately 20 hours per week from June 1st through August 30th, 2023. Hourly rate is $30 (beginner) through $59 (intermediate) depending on experience and education.
Essential Functions and Principal Accountabilities :
- Support and model the mission of Vermont Law and Graduate School.
- Collaborate and communicate with the instructional design and online teams.
- Provide technical and pedagogical support and assistance required to construct and deliver content in an online, technology-aided, hybrid or blended format (hereinafter collectively referred to as online).
- Provide Faculty, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and / or Content Developers (CDs) the technical tools and support required to define and refine learning outcomes and measure student mastery against those outcomes in an online format at the program and course level.
- Assist OLP Faculty, SMEs, and CDs in designing assignments or learning activities that are appropriately interactive and facilitate appropriate mastery of learning outcomes.
- Provide instructional, technological, and pedagogical program and course review, including quality assurance and assessment as assigned.
- Provide instructional, technological, and pedagogical recommendations or suggestions related to instructional material, learning activities, media (e.g., video) and multimedia / interactivities, assessments, rubrics, instructor notes, as well as course structure and design, and technology tools configurable within the VLGS Learning Management Systems.
- Participate in project and process management related to new course development and course revisions and participate in new program development or program revisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a well-rounded student experience and achieve short and long term goals.
- Design, collect, interpret and suggest ways to leverage and act upon data (internal and external surveys, polls, social media) to assess learning outcomes and improve the student experience.
- Ensure courses meet accessibility and compliance standards; identify and address accessibility barriers in course design to increase student success.
- Apply universal design principles in online course design.
- Enforce copyright compliance in course development and delivery, including but not limited to, locating / securing permissions as needed, and being sensitive to the unintended / unauthorized use of any unlicensed digital assets.
- Ensure that all online education design and development initiatives comply with policies of state and regional accreditation agencies, as well as program / specialized accrediting agencies and professional organizations.
- Assist in the designing and delivering of training materials related to online teaching and course developing.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
