Vermont Smoke & Cure is currently hiring a full-time Maintenance Technician to join our team! In this role, you will be crucial in optimizing the efficiency and output of our machinery. This position will overlap with the daytime maintenance technicians, providing support for any equipment malfunctions during production. Once production is complete, the majority of your time will be dedicated to performing predictive maintenance (PMs) and tackling special projects to ensure our equipment runs smoothly and efficiently.

- Pay Rate: From $30/hour 20% Shift Differential
- Overtime available as necessary
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for helping to build facility maintenance programs, with a primary focus on preserving the operational efficiency of facility equipment. The position emphasizes proactive measures such as preventative, autonomous, and predictive maintenance, and reliability improvements. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician is instrumental in addressing emergency repairs and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to achieve Company objectives, including safety, quality, and operational performance targets.
Responsibilities:
- Help production teams and operators in the event of equipment malfunctions.
- Collaborate with other maintenance technicians to address complex technical challenges.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations to minimize production disruptions.
- Inspect or test damaged machine parts and advise the Maintenance Manager of repair needs.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and overall production up-time and efficiency.
- Implement and adhere to preventive maintenance schedules to reduce the likelihood of equipment failures.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Improves safety and health standards in all processes and practices.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks.
- Identify and rectify safety hazards associated with equipment and machinery.
Qualifications:
- Previous vocation or training in a mechanical or electrical environment, manufacturing and /or food processing preferred but not necessary.
- Candidate must be willing to undergo training on our specialized equipment, demonstrating a commitment to learning and adapting to our operational processes and safety standards.
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
- Technical College degree in a related field preferred.
