JOB DESCRIPTION
The Center Director is responsible for the effective daily operations and high quality programming in accordance with all Verner policies and procedures and adherence with funding and licensing regulations. The Center Director supervises the non-EHS classroom teaching professionals and other direct support staff for the center. The Center Director partners with the Specialists in support of classrooms, children, and family engagement. This position serves on the Verner Leadership Team.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Birth to Kindergarten Education, or a four year degree in a related field that includes 6 classes focusing on early childhood education/development
- At least 3 years of experience in management, preferably as a Center Director, and qualified as a Level III Administrator
- Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus
- Ability to provide leadership, training, and supervision
- Ability to foster and maintain harmonious staff relations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Physically able to lift at least 30 lbs., kneel, stoop, bend and sit on the floor to attend to children’s needs
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicates timely with families about events, concerns, and changes
- Works with licensing consultants, regulatory agents, and Early Head Start monitors to meet applicable standards and regulations
- Completes health and safety checklists and any other reports required by licensing or EHS
- Participates in selection, orientation, and training of all center staff
- Supervises and evaluates center staff
- Provides oversight to the classroom scheduling and time off request process
- Participates in the scheduling of approved training for teaching staff
- Produces a weekly written communication for center staff
- Schedules and conducts regular staff meetings
- Assists the staff in preparing daily, weekly, and yearly plans
- Completes all staff performance reviews
- Arranges for teachers to make home visits with parents to ensure parent involvement, participation, and positive parent-center relations
- Conducts all safety drills on schedule
- Supports the coordination of center events and attends
- Tracks supervisions, observations and evaluations and submits monthly
- Assumes other duties as required: Including, but not limited to, providing breaks; assuming the role of teacher in the classroom; or parents; and serving and cleaning up after meals
- Support with coverage in classrooms when needed
- Physically able to lift at least 30 lbs.
