Job Description:
We are looking for a detailed and results-driven Cost Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will be working closely with the management of our manufacturing business to help us understand and report on production costs and Inventory controls. You will report to the Controller and will participate in preparing and analyzing Inventory reports, cost reports, identifying variances, implementing cost standards for materials and labor, and assisting in budget and forecasting activities.
Responsibilities:
- Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine the costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
- Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
- Prepare, analyze, and report weekly, monthly, and annual gross margin analysis by product, customer etc.
- Collaborate with the Operations team to review, maintain, and update accurate BOMs. Ensure BOMs reflect the most current cost structures and production processes. This includes providing insights on new BOM costing for innovation.
- Review and analyze purchase orders and pricing to ensure alignment with budgetary constraints and cost targets. Work with internal teams to resolve pricing discrepancies and optimize procurement processes as well as manage any contractual.
- Prepare and present cost reports, including variance analyses and cost forecasts. Provide actionable insights to support decision-making and financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Maintain thorough and accurate documentation for cost accounting activities.
- Making estimates of new and proposed product costs.
- Assisting in month end close of the General Ledger.
- Conducts physical inventories and monitors the cycle count program.
- Ability to work with manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards.
- Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project requests.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum of 3 years of Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Must have a strong cost accounting background and excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
- Experience with Epicor ERP system is a plus.
- Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-[paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
