JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring exceptional guest service as well as complete guest satisfaction throughout the Operations department. The Operations Assistant Manager is responsible for the supervision of all Operation’s Associates and their assigned area and must follow all Department policies and procedures as well as New York State Lottery Gaming Rules and Regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Provide excellent guest service to both internal and external guests.
- Actively supports the company culture of creating a fun and entertaining experience for internal and external guests.
- Knowledge of local jurisdiction gaming laws (federal, state, etc.) and Associate regulations as well as the Company’s internal controls, policies and procedures.
- Supports training programs for each position and ensures adequate training and development is provided for each Associate.
- Supervises the operation of all VLT machines and mutuel self - bet machines in the Vernon Downs Casino and Hotel.
- Responsible for the organization of assigned shift and area including, daily Associate assignments, Associate break schedules and staffing levels.
- Makes recommendations and suggestions to hire, suspend, evaluate, promote, assign, reward and/or discipline the Associates in his/her span of supervision.
- Monitors the performance of floor staff in assigned area and communicates with Operation’s Manager of any Customer and/or Associate issues.
- Verifies VLT payouts (jackpots, etc.) and follows company policy and procedure for photograph and press releases of Jackpot winners.
- Strives to meet revenue goals by ensuring all VLT machines are in working order. Notifies VLT technicians needed repairs.
- Supervise count in/count out of change banks when variances occur, also record and track variances.
- Promotes all departmental and property-wide promotions.
- All other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises all Operations Associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training associates, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising Associate performance, rewarding and disciplining Associates, addressing Guest and Associate complaints and resolving issues.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred. Two years’ experience preferred working in a Gaming / Racing environment. VLT / Mutuel Department preferred.
