Vernon Memorial Healthcare in Viroqua, WI is looking for a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join its collaborative and innovative Emergency Department team. This part-time position involves providing high-quality patient care in the Urgent Care setting to our dynamic rural community.
This role is perfect for an experienced APP looking to make an immediate difference in emergency operations while gaining competency through collaboration with board-certified emergency physicians in the care of emergency department patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive urgent and emergency care to patients across all age groups in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Perform assessments, diagnostics, and treatment plans for a variety of acute and chronic conditions.
- Assist with emergency care services, as needed, in a critical access setting.
- Educate patients and their families about medical conditions, treatments, and preventive care, primarily in an urgent care setting.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record system.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes in the emergency and urgent care departments.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current certification as a PA-C or NP and licensure to practice in Wisconsin (or ability to obtain.)
- BLS, ACLS, PALS and ATLS certifications required.
- Experience in emergency or critical care settings preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with a commitment to patient-centered care.
About the VMH Emergency Department:
The Emergency Department is a fully renovated 11-bed emergency room and urgent care with private patient rooms and Level IV trauma designation. An annual volume of 10,000 with approximately 25% admittance/transfer rate keeps the team thriving and patients cared for without significant wait times. The Emergency Department has full access to point-of-care ultrasound services and 24/7 respiratory therapy, lab, and CT services. With the Epic EMR system and modern equipment and technology, patients receive an integrated and positive experience.
