Job Title: Assistant Controller

Location/ Work Structure: Miamisburg, OH (Hybrid)

Compensation: $150,000 15% bonus

Client Overview: Vernovis is partnering with a fast growing Retail/Manufacturing company to identify an experienced Assistant Controller. This role is critical in driving financial excellence, leading an accounting team, and optimizing processes to ensure operational success.

What You'll Do:

• Supervise Senior Accountants in the U.S., providing leadership and direction to achieve departmental goals.
• Assist the Controller in coordinating month-end and year-end reporting processes, including preparing accruals, schedules, and financial reporting packages.
• Drive the accounting department to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) annually.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
• Formulate and apply best practices for general ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and asset management.
• Oversee processes and data flow between accounting systems and sub-systems, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to accounting workflows and processes.
• Lead or contribute to innovative solutions in financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
• Support special projects as needed to meet organizational objectives.

What Experience You'll Have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Accounting and Financial management.
• 2-3 years of prior supervisory experience, demonstrating strong leadership skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and JD Edwards or similar ERP systems.
• Exposure to automated information systems and workflows.

What Experience is Nice to Have:

• International accounting exposure.
• Experience in the consumer products or distribution industry.
