Job Summary
The Assistant Tasting Room Manager plays a vital role in enhancing the guest experience at our tasting room. This position involves supporting the Tasting Room Manager in daily operations, ensuring exceptional service, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the food and hospitality industry, with a passion for wine and delivering an exceptional service experience.
Duties
- Assist in managing daily operations of the tasting room, ensuring smooth service and guest satisfaction as well as compliance with all operational procedures and property policies.
- Train, supervise, and support tasting room staff to foster a positive team environment.
- Assist with inventory management, including counting supplies and maintaining stock levels.
- Support training programs for staff on food handling, service standards, and product knowledge.
- Engage with guests to provide information about products, answer questions, and promote special events.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the tasting room.
- Assist in planning and executing special events, private tastings, and banquets.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years experience in a leadership role in the food & beverage industry is required; experience in the wine industry is preferred.
- ServSafe Food Manager Certification required (may be obtained within 6 months of hire).
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service and hospitality.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiarity with dietary aide responsibilities and food handling practices is a plus.
- A passion for wine or beverages is preferred; knowledge of wine pairings is an advantage.
- Experience with Clover POS terminal is an advantage.
- Must be able to work Friday - Sunday consistently, and holidays as needed.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to bend, squat, climb, push, stoop and crouch repeatedly.
- Must have a good driving record and a valid driver’s license.
- Must be comfortable standing for long periods of time (4-6 hours per day).
- Shifts will require moderate to heavy physical work: moving wine cases and retail supplies, setting up for special events, carrying case(s) of wine to customer’s vehicle after purchase, etc.
