Position Overview:
Verra Mobility is hiring a Field Service Technician who will be part of a fast paced, high growth traffic enforcement technology department/company. You will install, wire, connect, calibrate, analyze, troubleshoot and maintain automated traffic enforcement systems, field WAN networks and surveillance equipment. You will also install, upgrade or replace hardware and software systems as needed and complete relevant documentation. You will be traveling independently to locations where you will either work autonomously or in partnership with other Field Service Technicians, subcontractors, clients or engineering staff to install and maintain red light camera and speed enforcement systems in the field.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Preventative and remedial maintenance of fixed site installed systems. (At times requires out of hours work) including rotating on call coverage.
- Perform electronics and communications troubleshooting of installed equipment.
- Perform mechanical troubleshooting of equipment enclosures.
- Programming/configuring of ITS, red light camera and speed enforcement system components in the field.
- Troubleshoot, fault-find and repair a variety of ITS, red light camera and speed enforcement system issues.
- Must be able to prioritize tasks, carry out works as per Standard Operating Procedures and record activities performed at site by completing accurate reports.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory and update site remediation logs.
- Must be able to organize, manage and safeguard vehicle stock parts and tools.
- Effectively communicate with co-workers, customers and subcontractors in the field, fostering a good working relationship.
- Assist with on-the-job training of other staff on Verra Mobility technologies and systems.
- May assist with new site installations, including working with Project Services team, installing and configuring equipment at new sites.
- Attend emergency faults and knock downs. (requires participation in on-call roster and out of hours work).
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic components, connectivity wiring, computer hardware and data/video cabling required.
- Trained in Redflex Technologies, Field Service Methodologies or equivalent training/experience.
- Proficient with use of tools and test equipment.
- Proficient with the use of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently (safely and responsibly), as well as in a team and with subcontractors.
- Must be able to obtain the following certifications within 60 days from date of hire (company will provide required training):
- CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry (White Card)
- RIIWHS205D Control traffic with a stop-slow bat
- RIIWHS302D Implement traffic management plans
- RIIWHS204E Work Safely At Heights
- EWP Operator License (Yellow Card)
- HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support
- HLTAID003 Provide first aid
- Site specific inductions (e.g. Citylink, Melbourne Airport)
- Road Authority Indications (e.g. ServiceStream, Transurban)
- Travel to work sites throughout Arizona.
- Have a valid driver's license.
- Safely operate hand and power tools.
- Comfortable working outside with regular exposure to outside elements.
- Some lifting required (ladders and system components).
- Able to pass Criminal History Check.
Physical and Safety Requirements
As an ideal field technician candidate, you must be able to perform the installations, relocations, removals, onsite troubleshooting and routine maintenance on various types of enforcement equipment.
Our equipment is installed roadside, in various urban settings throughout Arizona.
The mobile enforcement equipment has its internal electronic components contained in a sturdy metal cabinet, that is approximately 5 high and 3 feet wide. The enforcement units weight approximately 400.lbs. Inside those cabinets are approximately 4 to 6 individual rechargeable batteries. Each of those rechargeable batteries can weigh up to 70lbs.
Listed below are a few key duties and tasks requirements of field technician, performing roadside work.
- Ability to function in an urban city environment
- Ability to function in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, high winds)
- Ability to function during various work hours (early mornings, evenings, overnight)
- Ability to function while wearing personal protective equipment (ie: eyewear, hardhats, gloves, boots)
- Ability to manipulate internal / external components using hands and power tools.
- Ability to utilize upper body strength, to remove padlocks (bolt cutters and sledge hammers)
- Ability to repeatedly connect and disconnect rechargeable batteries.
- Ability to repeatedly transfer rechargeable batteries from their storage rack onto a truck bed.
- Ability to repeatedly lift rechargeable batteries from a truck bed and install them into an rack.
- Ability to repeatedly lift rechargeable batteries from the ground, up onto a holding rack.
- Ability to function at elevated levels (ie: truck bed, atop jersey walls and on roadway bridges)
- Ability to function inside a controllable lifting vehicle (ie: bucket truck) at various heights.
- Ability to utilize a handcart or dolly, with the purpose of physically moving an enforcement unit.
- Ability to safely navigate throughout the region, utilizing defensive driving skills and self-control.
Due to the various locations of our enforcement equipment, anchoring / securing the enforcement units to the ground is vital. Securing the equipment requires the use of handheld drills as well as metal dirt anchors. That installation and removal requires digging and twisting anchors into the surface.
Although the above list of requirements is not totally inclusive, there will be instances where the pulling, pushing, lifting and adjusting of equipment is needed.
