Verrill is actively reviewing resumes for a Litigation Paralegal to be based in either our Portland, Maine or Boston, Massachusetts Office. This role is a full-time, non-exempt position supporting our Litigation Practice Group team with all phases of litigation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: managing case files; drafting and proofreading trial documents; monitoring deadlines; managing the discovery process; preparing and coordinating logistics for trial; preparing witness and exhibit lists; assisting in development of trial strategies; and maintaining regular communication with clients to provide updates and gather information. During trial, the Litigation Paralegal will provide on-site support, manage exhibits, and assist attorneys with presentations.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with databases/litigation support technologies, including Trial Director or similar software, and an aptitude for technology in the field. Prior trial experience and eDiscovery training or certification are highly desirable. Applicants should have the ability to work effectively as a member of a trial team with attorneys, clients, other paralegals, legal assistants, and outside organizations, as well as the ability to manage multiple duties simultaneously. Candidates should be able to provide logistical and technical support for trials in New England with a willingness to travel including travel between Verrill’s offices, if necessary.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated initiative-taker with strong written communication skills and at least three (3) years of law firm experience in litigation. A Bachelor’s Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate is a plus. The successful candidate will be capable of producing high quality work in a timely and professional manner, while providing exceptional client service and team support.
The successful candidate will have exceptional due diligence, strong organizational skills, and advanced computer skills (Outlook, Word, and Excel). Applicants should have proven project management skills, the ability to work independently, and prioritize tasks successfully.
