What are the responsibilities and job description for the Real Estate Paralegal position at Verrill?
Verrill is actively reviewing resumes for a Real Estate Paralegal in our Westport, Connecticut Office. This role is a full-time, non-exempt position supporting our Real Estate Practice Group attorneys with all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including documentation, due diligence, closing and post-closing activities for acquisitions, dispositions, and financing. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: initial drafting of real property related documents including deeds, easements, leases, amendments, estoppel certificates, affidavits, and other conveyance related documents; preparing entity formation documents (corporation, LLC, LP) and electronic state filings; handling all aspects of title and survey work; online research including land records and secretary of state websites; tracking critical contract dates and closing checklists; coordinating and assisting with all aspects of closings, including preparation of conveyance documents, closing statements, and other closing documents; attending to all post-closing requirements, and monitoring all post-closing deliveries and requirements; maintaining project files, both paper and electronic; assisting clients; and responding promptly with the ability to successfully multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with strong written communication skills and at least three (3) years of law firm experience preferably in real estate and/or corporate law. A Bachelor’s Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate is a plus. The successful candidate will be capable of producing high quality work in a timely and professional manner, while providing exceptional client service and team support.
The successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and advanced computer skills (including Outlook, Word, and Excel). Applicants should have proven project management skills, the ability to work independently, and prioritize tasks successfully.
