VersAbility Resources is currently seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as a Custodian at Yorktown Naval Weapons Station. This role will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of various facilities, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for both employees and visitors. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, demonstrate good time management skills, and possess a strong work ethic.

The Custodian position participates in the Ability One program ; allowing individuals with significant disabilities to work in various positions within our Government Contracted positions.

Hours are 5:30p to 9:30p M-F

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming floors, carpets, and furniture.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms and replenish supplies as needed.
• Empty trash receptacles and sort recycling materials appropriately.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored.
• Perform minor preventative maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs, fixing leaky faucets, and repairing broken fixtures.
• Follow established procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage or injuries.
• Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor promptly.
• Assist in setting up and breaking down equipment and furniture for meetings, events, or other functions as required.
• Notify management of any safety hazards, security incidents, or any other emergencies in a timely manner.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and policies.
  
  

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Proven experience as a custodian, janitor, or similar role is desirable not required
• Ability to pass a military background screen to obtain base access required.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to providing high-quality service.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Transportation to access base
