JOB TITLE: RATES ASSOCIATE ANALYST

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Supports, maintains, analyzes and advances multiple rates and regulatory workflows within the electric utility. Responsible for accurate and timely rate administration, rate case support, rate design, and preparing regulatory filing drafts. Supports forecasting and commercial contract administration functions. Performs rate and sales analysis for various customer classes and prepares rate proposals for individual customers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers and drafts rate schedules, including Terms and Conditions.
- Will support in-depth analysis and data preparation for annual Open Access Transmission Tariffs (OATT).
- Provides rate case assistance and will prepare work product to support Versant testimony; prepares responses to data requests; and evaluates the efficacy of rate design in meeting revenue requirements.
- Analyzes data and prepares stranded cost and standard offer filings.
- Consults with customers regarding rate alternatives and general rate matters.
- Conducts research necessary to support rate design proposals (e.g., time-of-day rates, load control rates), and risk management analysis. Supports and analyzes embedded and marginal cost of service studies.
- Prepares timely and accurate drafts to the meet reporting requirements of State and Federal energy regulators, i.e., Maine Public Utilities Commission (MPUC), and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Edison Electrical Institute, Electric Energy Institute, and/or other electric industry regulators as required.
- Provides support for large account and small power production facility manual billings and contract administration.
- Provides support and backup of Company’s Sales and Administration activities including but not limited to the preparation of load forecasts.
- Administer and maintain customer billing rates in the Company’s Customer Information System
- Works in accordance with the documented procedures and instructions for the role’s responsibilities. Reports problems or deviations according to company policies.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other related duties as assigned, including designated duties associated with System Restoration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Accounting or other analytical discipline is required. Either 2 years’ related experience or an advanced degree or applicable professional certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial and economic principles is required, and experience in utility industries is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to independently analyze complex problems and financial models is required. Must demonstrate critical thinking for new rate making protocols that achieve regulatory, company and customer needs.
- High level of proficiency with MS Excel and other MS Office applications required. Advanced use of MS Excel or other data analytics software is preferred.
- Sound technical and organizational skills, with attention to detail required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required, and leadership qualities are valued.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment according to regulatory deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team as well as with other professionals across the company and in external professional groups and settings.
- Position requires a valid Maine driver’s license.

RATE OF PAY:
Pay will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Further pay information will be available during the interview process.
