We seek an experienced, results-driven purchasing manager to join our team at VersaTube Building Systems.
As a purchase manager, you will be responsible for handling the procurement process, sourcing suppliers and managing vendor relationships to ensure a seamless supply chain at all four of our manufacturing facilities. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams, make strategic decisions and implement best practices within our procurement function.

Job Tasks
- Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies for cost optimization and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness and adherence to ethical and sustainability standards.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure favorable pricing, payment terms, and mutually beneficial agreements.
- Conduct market research and analysis to stay updated on industry trends, supplier capabilities, and pricing fluctuations.
- Optimize centralizing and decentralizing opportunities.
- Implement procurement systems and tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
- Source and negotiate with potential suppliers, assess their capabilities and evaluate their suitability based on predefined criteria.
- Manage supplier relationships, including regular communication, performance evaluations, issue resolution, and fostering long term partnerships.
- Continuously evaluate and improve procurement practices, including identifying cost-saving opportunities and process enhancements.
- Develop and maintain procurement metrics to track performance, identify areas for improvement, and Implement report on sourcing effectiveness.
- Provide sustainable and socially responsible strategic sourcing practices, including supporting local suppliers and promoting ethical sourcing.
- Stay updated on regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to sourcing activities.
- Work closely with accounting to ensure purchase orders are received and closed out/billed timely at the end of the month.
- Work closely with plant managers to monitor inventory levels and forecast future purchasing needs to prevent shortages or overstock.
Required skills and qualifications
- Strong steel industry experience preferred.
- Willingness and ability to perform all tasks associated with purchasing from completing Purchase Orders to long term contract negotiations.
- Proven excellent negotiation skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- 5 years of experience as a successful Purchasing Manager.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement principles, strategies and best practices.
- Strong skills in budgeting, cost optimization and negotiation techniques.
- Knowledge of vendor management and inventory management systems.
- An analytical mind with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced and competitive environment.
