As a Financial Risk & Controls Manager, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding financial integrity across our portfolio by conducting detailed forensic examinations of financial records (e.g. financial statements, bank accounts and activity, credit card and reimbursement activity, employee records, etc.). This position involves investigating potential irregularities, fraud, and financial misconduct to ensure compliance and integrity across the business operations.
The ideal candidate will have a 'get-it-done' mentality, be able to take ownership of their schedule, and possess a strong background in forensic accounting, and exceptional analytical skills while maintaining intellectual curiosity to deter and detect fraud across a portfolio of businesses spanning multiple industries.
This job focuses on producing high-quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines, and procedures. Precise, consistent work output is essential, requiring patience and a willingness to handle and complete one task at a time. The job environment is stable, based on known relationships with people and well-defined processes. Job knowledge and competency is built through structured step-by-step training and positive, supportive coaching from management and peers. Consistent, error-free work based on defined regulations and standards is key to job performance success. This position is designed to develop a valued technical expert who is recognized and supported by management and has a stable work environment and can deliver quality work on a consistent basis.

Salary Range: $100k base DOE, plus bonus potential

Role & Responsibilities
- Financial Investigations: Conduct comprehensive forensic examinations of financial records across multiple companies to identify irregularities, fraud, and financial misconduct within portfolio companies.
- Risk Assessment: Assess the financial risk associated with portfolio companies, identifying potential areas of concern and implementing proactive measures to mitigate risk.
- Compliance: Ensure portfolio companies adhere to legal and regulatory standards by conducting regular compliance reviews and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed reports documenting findings from forensic examinations, clearly communicating complex financial information to internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external (e.g. auditors, legal counsel, stakeholders, etc.) teams to gather relevant information and ensure a thorough understanding of the financial landscape.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging trends in forensic accounting, and changes in relevant regulations to enhance investigative processes continually.
- Organization: Maintain strong records and flexibility while regularly reviewing multiple companies across REDACTED's growing portfolio.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFE) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience (4 – 7 years) in forensic accounting, ideally within a private equity or similar financial services environment (Preferred not required).
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, fraud investigation principles, and legal and regulatory requirements.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of integrity and ethical standards.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., forensic accounting software, Excel, data analytics tools, QuickBooks/Great Plains/etc., ADP/Paylocity/etc., online banking access).
