Located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Versiti Blood Research Institute (VBRI) is the largest blood-focused research institute in the United States. With over 30 basic, translational, and clinical investigators, the institute is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and developing innovative therapies related to blood and blood disorders. Position Summary
Learns about the scientific approach to research questions, records laboratory data in an established format, and performs simple standard laboratory research procedures

Responsibilities
- Learn and adhere to lab safety standards, policies, and protocols
- Under direction of Investigator, works with lab staff to learn laboratory procedures specific to aims of research
- Carries out independent reading relevant to research being observed or performed
- Generates clear and complete records of experimental work
- Communicates results at research meetings
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
- Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
- Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures
Qualifications
Education
- Enrolled in college with an emphasis on science curriculum. required
Experience
- High school level courses in biology, chemistry, or equivalent scientific discipline required
- With increased responsibility, college level courses in similar disciplines required
- Future career focus on biological sciences desired
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to carry out experiments and tasks by following established guidelines required
- Strong detail orientation required
- Effective organizational and communication skills required
