Essential Functions:
- Fulfills the duties and responsibilities of a Material Handling Operator.
- Provides leadership and sets a positive example for other associates through productivity, quality, sanitation, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Continuously trains and develops associates on standard operation procedures (SOP) and job safety analysis (JSA).
- Serves as a primary point of reference for warehouse associates regarding operational or procedural questions.
- Works closely with supervisor on staffing needs and overtime requirements, and assists in scheduling, delegating and prioritizing work flow.
- Leads and manages temporary labor personnel as required to ensure the efficient, accurate and timely completion of projects.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment and reinforces sanitation and safety policies with warehouse associates.
- Completes forms and prepares reports as required.
- Conduct pre-shift and safety meetings
- Complete Safety observations
- Conduct Cycle counts and customer inventories
- Back up to Warehouse Supervisor as needed
- Assists with the material handling equipment training of new employees.
- Updates and maintains sanitation records.
- Performs cycle counts or quality control testing and communicates findings and observations to Supervisor.
- Identifies continuous improvement opportunities in warehousing processes.
- Participates in departmental or interdepartmental meetings.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree or equivalent work- related experience preferred.
- Must acquire forklift certification upon hire; prefer 1-3 years prior experience operating a forklift in a high volume environment.
- Basic reading and math skills.
- Must be able to follow specific instructions thoroughly and accurately, and provide instructions to other associates as needed.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs safely on occasion as required.
- Good hand/eye coordination and motor skills.
- Able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed due to customer requirements.
- Ability to understand, follow and enforce company policies and procedures.
