Job Summary
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Technical Data Entry Specialist to support our engineering and completions teams by managing and inputting critical technical data into spreadsheets and smart completions systems. This role involves working with data related to valves, instruments, electrical equipment, and other field components, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and traceability across all project documentation and databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately enter and validate data for equipment (e.g., valves, transmitters, motors, panels, etc.) into smart completions systems (e.g., Hexagon SmartPlant, Aveva, or similar).
- Manage and update complex Excel spreadsheets with equipment characteristics, tags, make, model, serial numbers, and specifications.
- Review and interpret engineering datasheets, P&IDs, and loop drawings to extract and verify technical information.
- Apply correct tagging conventions and ensure traceability across systems.
- Perform regular audits to identify data discrepancies and ensure integrity and compliance with project standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, QA/QC, and commissioning teams to resolve data gaps or inconsistencies.
- Support the creation and maintenance of reports and dashboards using Excel or Power BI.
- Assist with data imports, cleanups, and transitions between systems as required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or certification in Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical Technology, or related field.
- 2 years of experience in a technical or industrial data entry role—preferably in oil & gas, utilities, or large capital projects.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, data validation, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.
- Experience with Smart Completions Systems (SmartPlant, Aveva, or equivalent).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as datasheets, P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and I/O lists.
- High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Eligible to work in the US
Nice to Have (Assets)
- Familiarity with systems like SAP PM, Maximo, or CMMS tools.
- Experience with Excel VBA, Power Query, or Power BI.
- Understanding of industry standards for instrumentation and electrical equipment (ISA, IEC, NEC, etc.).
- Prior work on commissioning or turnarounds in industrial settings.
