POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Workday Financial Analyst supports Vertex Education’s mission of transforming lives through education by managing and optimizing Workday’s finance, accounting, payroll, procurement, and related modules. This position works closely with finance teams to address system needs, improve workflows, and maintain compliance standards. Through integration oversight, reporting, and security management, the Workday Financial Analyst ensures Vertex and its clients can leverage Workday’s capabilities to maximize operational efficiency and achieve their goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Module Oversight and Configuration

• Manage and configure Workday’s finance, accounting, procurement, payroll, and related modules.
• Proactively identify opportunities to enhance workflows and improve system efficiency.
• Ensure module configurations align with financial, payroll, and regulatory standards.
• Analyze new Workday features for potential integration into financial and payroll workflows.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting

• Address module-specific issues raised by finance, payroll, and accounting teams.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve system-related challenges across modules.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting finance, payroll, and procurement modules.
• Escalate complex technical issues to vendors or support teams as needed.

Reporting and Data Management

• Serve as a subject matter expert on Workday finance, payroll, and procurement data, ensuring accuracy and consistency across systems.
• Maintain and enhance Workday reporting structures to support seamless data access for analytics, business intelligence, and financial planning tools.
• Collaborate with internal teams to design and implement new reports, dashboards, and data flows that meet evolving business needs.
• Ensure data integrity and troubleshoot reporting discrepancies, working closely with stakeholders and external service providers as needed.

Audit Support, Compliance, and Security

• Oversee and maintain security configurations for finance, payroll, and procurement modules to safeguard sensitive data.
• Provide system-related data or reports for financial compliance audits.
• Ensure compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
• Assist auditors with Workday-based inquiries and reporting during audit processes.

Integration Oversight and Continuous Improvement

• Oversee and maintain integrations between Workday and other systems (e.g., payroll providers, banks, or procurement tools).
• Monitor integration performance, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with vendors for resolution.
• Design and optimize custom reports and dashboards for finance, payroll, and accounting teams.
• Stay updated on emerging trends in Workday’s capabilities to recommend and implement enhancements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience configuring and managing Workday finance, accounting, payroll, or procurement modules.
• Experience troubleshooting Workday issues and supporting end-users.
• Strong understanding of financial processes and regulatory compliance standards.
• Technical proficiency in creating Workday reports, dashboards, and maintaining security configurations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience managing Workday integrations with payroll providers, banks, or procurement systems.
• Familiarity with payroll systems and processes, including compliance requirements.
• Certifications such as Workday Financial Management or Workday Reporting Pro.
• Experience collaborating with internal teams during audits and compliance checks.
• Knowledge of ERP systems in education or non-profit environments.

BACKGROUND CHECKS:

• The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
• Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times.

PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Travel between campuses is required from time to time.
• This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
• This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration.
