Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Superintendent with knowledge of GDOT (Georgia Department of Transportation) regulations and experience in road work and construction. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and supervisory skills, a comprehensive understanding of GDOT guidelines, and a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale road projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision: Supervise daily activities of our road construction and maintenance projects, including the schedules to ensure all work aligns with project goals, timelines, and GDOT standards. Work closely with our superintendents, project managers and subcontractors. Supervise daily equipment usage reports to increase efficiency.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all road work and construction activities meet GDOT standards, safety regulations, and quality control benchmarks. Address any discrepancies or quality concerns promptly.
- Budget & Resource Management: Oversee the budgets & schedules of assigned projects, manage resources, and ensure that materials and equipment are allocated efficiently to avoid cost overruns or project delays.
- Safety Management: Enforce safety procedures on job sites, ensuring compliance with OSHA and GDOT safety standards. Conduct safety meetings, hazard assessments, and on-site inspections to minimize risks.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Keep current on GDOT rules, policies, and best practices for road construction and maintenance. Ensure that all work performed complies with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Problem Solving & Issue Resolution: Identify potential project risks, delays, or challenges and implement corrective measures to keep projects on track and within budget.
- Documentation & Reporting: Experience with project record keeping, including daily logs, inspections, reports, and change orders.
Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in transportation construction, with a strong focus on GDOT road work projects. Proven ability to lead large-scale road construction projects.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of GDOT specifications, policies, and procedures for road work.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and team management/development skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project needs.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in construction management, safety, or GDOT-specific training (e.g., GDOT Contractor Certification) are preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors and inspect job sites in various weather conditions.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with some flexibility required for evening or weekend work, depending on project deadlines.
- Travel to multiple job sites may be required.
