What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Design Engineer (ETO) position at Vertiv?
Job Summary
The Electrical Design Engineer will primarily work on Engineered-to-Order (ETO) design projects and release customizations to manufacturing through creation of designs, bills of material and engineering change orders. The product line will encompass UPS and Power Switching and Distribution Products for use in Data Centers. This requires complex problem solving where no precedence exists, working with cross-functional teams, and managing a variety of tasks and activities while meeting project goals and schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Become the Subject Matter Expert on your product line(s).
- Customize existing products to meet customer requirements and specifications by identifying any new electrical components and designing new assemblies and electrical circuits.
- Release to production the designs, drawings, and documentation required through Engineering Change Orders in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) database.
- Identify and implement potential VAVE opportunities.
- Support Vertiv Services in implementing product changes to resolve field issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience is required.
- Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment both independently and as a member of team.
- Must be detail oriented, have good planning and organization, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with 3D CAD software, preferred CREO and/or SolidEdge.
- Knowledgeable on 3-phase transformers, power conversion and calculations.
- Knowledgeable on NEC requirements such as but not limited to, wire sizing, bend radius, and conduit sizing.
- Knowledgeable on circuit breakers, relays, batteries and circuit monitoring equipment.
- Proven ability to read and/or redline schematics and single line diagrams.
- Preferred experience with PLM systems (BOM and Engineering Change Order management)
- Preferred experience or knowledge on UPS, Static Switches and/or Power Distribution products.
- Preferred experience with component selection such as breakers, fuses, relays, etc.
- Preferred experience with UL requirements.
