HVM DOD SkillBridge NETA Testing Technician - Baltimore

POSITION SUMMARY

High Voltage Maintenance (HVM), a rapidly growing third-party, NETA accredited, electrical testing company is currently seeking Field Technicians to support our service offerings.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Troubleshooting capabilities, relay calibration, use of load recording instrumentation, low and medium voltage switchgear testing through 15 kV class
• Perform tasks such as testing of circuit breakers, switchgear and motor control centers
• Electrical testing and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems
• Busduct Installation, Inspection & Testing
• Instrument transformer tests & Power transformer testing – Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
• Test both electro-mechanical and solid-state relays
• Cable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot
• Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting

QUALIFICATIONS

• Candidates with NETA Level 2 certification or above required.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment, periodic and random drug screenings
• Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and night work.
• Must be available for out-of-town travel at a minimum of 15-25 weeks per year
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move 100-pound test sets
• Possess a valid driver’s license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical 
• Graduate of Electrical Technical School 
• Military equivalent 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Medium Lifting (30 Ibs. – 45 Ibs.)
• Heavy Lifting (over 50 Ibs.)
• Frequent Standing
• Frequent kneeling / crawling / stooping 
• Frequent bending / twisting
• Frequent climbing (stairs, ladders)
• Frequent driving (car, van, truck)

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

• Extreme cold (below 32*)
• Extreme heat (above 100*)
• Noise Level (Medium / High need to shout to be heard)
• Working around moving machinery (fork-lifts, tractors)
• Protective Equipment Required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.)
• Work outdoors (no effective protection from weather)

The anticipated pay range for this role in the Connecticut locality is between $24 to $40 per hour—pay ranges for other geographic localities may vary.  Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are role based. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role. The role is eligible to participate in a comprehensive and competitive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, disability, PTO, holiday pay, and 401k. Additional details about total compensation and benefits will be provided during the hiring process.

The anticipated salary range for this role in the District of Columbia locality is between $65,000 to $80,000 per year (based on a 40-hour work week)—salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are role based. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role. The role is eligible to participate in a comprehensive and competitive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, disability, PTO (Flexible or up to accrued 17 number of days a year), holiday pay (9 days), and 401k. Additional details about total compensation and benefits will be provided during the hiring process.
