What are the responsibilities and job description for the Powder Coat Operator position at Vertiv?
SUMMARY: Paint sheet metal parts for use in power distribution units according to the production schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform setup, maintenance and complete production schedules by following directions on the paint line.
- To degrease, mask and/or unmask sheet metal parts, load and/or unload sheet metal parts onto powder coating line. Perform powder paint application process as needed. Palletize powder coated parts for delivery to the assembly lines.
- Follow instructions assigned by the supervisor, engineers & managers.
- Accurately report production information to supervisors and managers.
- Keep work area clean and orderly.
- Conduct regular maintenance.
- Carry out regular paint quality checks in line with procedure.
- Troubleshoot defective processes.
- Assist in identifying continuous improvement opportunities.
- Support ISO Quality System, Quality Policy and Continuous Improvement efforts.
- Safety hazard identification and elimination.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
- Undertake other duties as requested.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work in a fast paced production environment with multiple product changes during the shift.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Communication skills.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Hand/eye coordination.
- Ability to perform job function while standing for an entire shift, including overtime when necessary.
- Work additional overtime / hours when required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two or more year’s sheet metal powder coat experience preferred.
