Senior Director, Operations Finance

POSITION SUMMARY

Vertiv, a global leader in critical infrastructure solutions, seeks a Sr. Director, Operations Finance to join our Americas Finance team.  Your role will include managing a team to perform strategic planning, executive reporting, margin optimization, and inventory management in financial support of Procurement, Plant Operations. You will be in frequent contact with Procurement, Operations and Engineering leadership to assess and interlock on key inputs to forecasting, planning savings and productivity, explain variances in results, and drive performance. Additionally, the position will support strategic finance initiatives assessing make vs. buy, make/make scenarios and capital expenditures. This role requires a self-starter with strong experience in manufacturing finance, product costing, procurement variance analysis, and process improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Lead strategic planning and target setting of key performance indicators (KPI’s) for Procurement & Operations.
  • Review the team’s forecasting inputs for plant labor, operating expenses, and inventory on a monthly basis.
  • Provide monthly reporting on manufacturing plant KPI’s to assess operational efficiency and conversion cost.
  • Oversee the monthly reporting of Procurement’s inflation & productivity performance as well as outlook. 

Operational Performance & Cost Control

  • Analyze financial performance and trends to make recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Partner with operations leadership to ensure financial discipline in key decision-making areas such as capital expenditures, labor costs, and supply chain management.
  • Monitor inventory levels, production costs, and operational metrics to identify areas of improvement. 
  • Oversee and review the analysis for make vs. buy and make vs. make scenarios for the America’s region.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in identifying and implementing operational improvements. 

Product Costing (Standard Cost)

  • Supervise the central product costing team that project manages the set up and maintenance of standard costs for all raw materials, labor, and overhead in compliance with Vertiv’s accounting policies.
  • Oversee the team’s collaboration with procurement, logistics, and operations for annual standard setting as well as the cost management support desk for ad hoc adjustments throughout the fiscal year.
  • Identify financial risks from procure to pay to ensure controls are designed, implemented, and optimized to prevent margin erosion and unfavorable liquidity impacts.
  • Provide ad hoc analytical support as a business partner to Operations and Procurement leadership.
  • Multiple site responsibility including 9 manufacturing plants.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 10 years of experience in manufacturing finance including financial support of operations and procurement. 
  • Advanced knowledge of operational metrics, cost accounting (including standard cost), and supply chain financials.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performance teams.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to pull together and summarize large amounts of data into concise explanations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • ERP Systems experience, preferably Oracle.

 

TIME TRAVEL REQUIRED

  • Up to 33% of the time.
