As Belinda, our Creative Director, highlights in the quote above, we care about our people and think you will too! As the Director of HR at Vertosa, you’ll shape the people strategy of the most influential team in the cannabis and hemp-infused product category. In this role, you will lead the development and execution of HR initiatives that drive talent acquisition, employee engagement, and organizational growth, all while fostering a values-driven, high-performance culture. You’ll have the chance to build scalable hiring and retention strategies, enhance professional development programs, and champion initiatives that ensure Vertosa remains a top employer in the industry. In the first year, you will have the opportunity to:

• Design and implement HR initiatives, including a competitive compensation framework, hiring roadmap, and retention plan aligned with Vertosa’s mission and business goals.
• Oversee the entire recruitment lifecycle—from role justification and job description creation to recruiter engagement, interview management, and offer execution. 
• Lead onboarding and training programs that set new hires up for success.
• Partner with department heads to align hiring needs with strategic business objectives and build comprehensive people plans.
• Collaborate with Marketing to enhance employer branding and attract top talent.
• Lead performance reviews, implement professional development plans, and support leadership growth across the organization.
• Serve as the primary HR contact, fostering a culture of transparency, support, and accountability. 
• Develop engagement programs, including team events and volunteering opportunities.
• Conduct market benchmarking to drive competitive compensation and benefit offerings. 
• Maintain accurate HR data, oversee payroll coordination, and ensure compliance with all relevant laws, including FMLA, ADA, EEO, wage laws, and cannabis industry regulations.
• Track key HR metrics, including retention, employee satisfaction, and recruitment success, and leverage insights to drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee the HR budget and provide proactive financial reporting to Finance.
• Champion DEI initiatives, fostering an inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and empowered.
• Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and high performance across the organization.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
• 5-7 years of experience in HR, with a strong understanding of HR functions, compliance, and best practices.
• Demonstrated expertise in talent acquisition, employee relations, and performance management.
• Proficiency with HR software systems, including HRIS, ATS, payroll, and benefits platforms.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to appropriately adapt to the needs of others.
• Proven track record of successful project management, process improvement, and problem-solving in a high-paced environment.
• Strategic thinker with expertise in data analysis to inform organizational decision-making.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and concisely to others.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the capacity to motivate and manage other team members while collaborating effectively with other departmental leaders.
• Must be a passionate champion for cannabis, although Vertosa does not require cannabis consumption for any employees.
